The 2015 International North West 200 fires into life this morning with the opening practice sessions on the picturesque north coast of Northern Ireland. Preparation is key to these events, so with early season victories at Scarborough, Cookstown, Tandragee and Oulton Park for all three Tyco Security Products backed BMW Motorrad riders – Guy Martin, William Dunlop and Alastair Seeley – team manager Philip Neill says everyone is ready to get going.
“It seems like just five minutes ago that we made the decision to join forces with BMW Motorrad, yet here we are in the North West 200 paddock ready for another great week of racing,” explained Neill.
Speaking of the North West, which is Ireland’s largest outdoor sporting event, he added: “It’s no secret this event is a big favourite with everyone at TAS Racing. We just love the atmosphere of the place and thankfully we have enjoyed some success during our time here.”
Having changed to BMW Motorrad S1000RR machinery for 2015, the former British motocross competitor, who has managed TAS Racing teams and riders at the North West 200 for 15 years, said:
“Although we have not had as much time on our BMW Motorrad S1000RR Superbikes as we would have liked, overall we are pretty happy with the results from testing and we look forward to showing the full potential of the powerful Tyco BMW engines during the first practice session today.
“Mervyn Whyte and his team have put together a great line up once again, which includes some strong competition from other S1000RR mounted riders, however I’m sure our riders at Tyco BMW will feature significantly in the Superbike and Superstock classes come race day.”
