William Dunlop won yesterday’s feature Superbike race at the Tandragee 100 Road Races in convincing fashion aboard his Tyco BMW S 1000 RR. The Ballymoney man took second place in Open race from his pole position qualifying berth, after a race long battle with eventual winner Ryan Farquhar, but yesterday’s feature Superbike win gave Dunlop his first victory on BMW Motorrad machinery. Dunlop also set the fastest lap in both Superbike races around the 5.34-mile Tandragee 100 circuit.
William Dunlop: “It was worthwhile going to Tandragee and I’m a bit more comfortable on the Tyco BMW, which was always the plan this weekend. The changes that we made for the second race at Cookstown and the further changes for Tandragee have helped us make big steps forward. Yes we still have a bit of work to do before the TT, but it was really nice to win on a big bike, which is confidence inspiring.”
Philip Neill – Team Manager: “Job done. The end goal from Tandragee was always to get William more settled on the bike and that’s what we have achieved. There’s no disgrace coming second to Ryan Farquhar at Tandragee, but to go on and take a convincing feature race win is pleasing and will provide William with the perfect boost coming into the North West 200 in just over a week’s time.”
