The Tyco BMW team is well prepared for tomorrow’s rescheduled opening race of the 2015 Isle of Man TT Festival – the 6-lap TT Superbike encounter.
Both William Dunlop and Guy Martin have made impressive progress on their respective BMW Motorrad machinery, in what has been a heavily punctuated practice week due to inclement weather conditions.
Going into tomorrow’s opening encounter both men have been well in the ballpark with Dunlop recording his fastest ever practice week lap of 129.419mph and Guy Martin on an almost similar pace with a best lap of 128.963mph.
Dunlop said: “We came here knowing the BMW S1000RR was a proven package but totally new to us as a team. There hasn’t been that much practice this TT, but I think my lap time proves the potential is there and yeah – I’ll be looking to be in that podium mix as we’re not that far off the three boys in front of me in qualifying.”
Guy Martin added: “We made some changes to the bike and it’s mint. The lap time doesn’t reflect how happy I am with the package but my dog Nigel is making all the difference. Having him here is so relaxing and I’m actually enjoying it. I’m ready to race.”
Team manager Philip Neill said: “It’s been a tough week but we’re in the mix and the boys have worked hard with their respective crews. Other news has diverted the publicity away from Guy, and combining that with the relaxed but committed atmosphere in our camp – everyone at Tyco BMW is looking forward to a good strong opening race day tomorrow.”
Roads close tomorrow on the Isle of Man at 12.45pm with the 6-lap TT Superbike Race scheduled for 2pm. Roads re-open at 5.50pm.
