Tyco BMW’s Ian Hutchinson and Josh Elliott finished second and third respectively after a race-long battle in today’s British Superstock 1000cc class at Brands Hatch during round three of the championship. That makes it five podiums from five starts for Hutchinson in Tyco BMW colours – taking into account his double podium and victory at the International North West 200 earlier this month.
It also got Josh Elliott back into the podium mix aboard his TAS Racing prepared S1000RR. Hutchinson moves second in the championship standings, just 18 points behind Brands race winner Taylor Mackenzie with Elliott third, five points back on his Tyco BMW team-mate.
Hutchinson, who heads to the Isle of Man TT at the end of next week, said: “I’m really enjoying my racing this year with Tyco BMW. This weekend is so hard for me knowing that we go to the TT in a week’s time. Half of me didn’t want to be here, but the other half is just so excited about racing, as I just love riding the S1000RR. I’m riding well and kept telling myself that this weekend and even though someone rode into me at Paddock Hill and I did think, ‘Oh here we go!’ I kept it upright to keep up my one hundred percent podium record this season for Tyco BMW.”
Josh Elliott: “It’s nice to get the Tyco BMW back on the podium. I was struggling a bit for grip out of the slower corners at the end, but fair play to Hutchy for getting second place. After where we were early in weekend I’m delighted to be on the podium. We’re right there in the title hunt and I’m now looking forward to Donington Park to show off the Tyco BMW in front of the World Superbike audience.”
